BYUIOO – Location, Tickets, Reviews

Pipeline Theatre Company presents BYUIOO, a wild, energetic tale that takes place in the future when nature has overwhelmed New York City, food and resources are scarce, and the few humans remaining have separated into “packs” in order to survive. BYUIOO follows one particular group–The Pack–as a string of terrible events brought on by a boorish villain threatens to tear them apart.

Oh, and they speak in a made up language the entire time. Although the language is akin to English, the audience understands the storyline mostly through the actors’ facial expressions, body language, and soulful singing. The 360-degree stage and the live band–led by playwright Nate Weida–enhance the energy and kookiness of this one-of-a-kind musical.

Despite its silly nature, this musical gushes with palpable emotion. A nod to Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, BYUIOO is brought to life by an animated cast, along with vibrant, eclectic, folk gospel tunes.

NEWS & REVIEWS

Reviews

Theater Pizzazz
An energetic and imaginative tale inhabited by a gung-ho cast of uninhibited young performers… a coherent and entertaining show.

Woman Around Town
Surprisingly wonderful…I loved every semi-nonsensical minute. The music itself was wonderful and would easily stand against just about anything appearing in Times Square right now. The tunes are catchy and complex.

Talkin’ Broadway
A compelling and most unusual musical…Wish I knew their word for ‘Bravo!’
